Transitioning from Summer to Fall: The Scalloped Crop Top

I found this amazing scalloped crop top on one of my many weekend adventures to TopShop and have been pairing it with literally everything in my closet. Contrary to popular belief you CAN wear crop tops outside of the summer months. I know it sounds a little crazy, but with the right outfit it works. I am absolutely addicted to crop tops and because about half of the tops in my closet are cropped I had to find a way to transition them from summer to fall.

1. Wear them with high waisted jeans/ pants.

When rocking a crop top, people usually think that your belly always has to be showing. NOT TRUE. Throw on a pair of your favorite high waisted jeans and they are literally the perfect proportion for a crop top. I found these jeans on sale for $20 at TopShop and they will definitely be a staple in my fall wardrobe.

2. Layers, on layers, on layers.

Layer it up! A crop top is barely noticeable once you cover up with a great jacket or even a scarf. These are key pieces in any fall wardrobe. Don't be afraid to pull off a crop top with a skirt and tights plus a great leather jacket. It works. Just make sure that the skirt comes up past your belly button. Too much skin in the fall/winter months is not cute. Covering up your belly doesn't mean that the outfit is any less cute, it just shows that you don't need to be revealing in 50 degree weather. It's too cold for all of that. The crop top is a great staple piece and it doesn't have to come off as "sexy"! You can be beautiful without showing the world what you're working with all the time. Confidence is beautiful, so if you're wearing what makes you comfortable you da flyest boo!  ;)

3. Accessorize!

Accessories can step your entire outfit up to the next level. Throw on a hat or your favorite rings to give some personality to your look. I am loving very minimal accessories right now. My scalloped Kate Spade ring was a gift from my best friend for Christmas and the other one is my purity ring, which was a gift from my father. I like to wear pieces that mean something to me and have symbolic value. I keep my earrings pretty simple because I am in love with studs. I don't remember the last time I had anything else in my ears. They're easy and go with the classic look that I love so much. Whatever accessories you choose make sure that they show off your unique personality and style. Accessories can always be transitioned from season to season and you can switch them up whenever you get bored.
